This is the first few paragraphs on her life at him as Betty Goldstein.

Friedan was born Bettye Naomi Goldstein[1][2][3] on February 4, 1921 in Peoria, Illinois,[4] to Harry and Miriam Goldstein. Harry owned a jewelry store in Peoria, and Miriam wrote for the society page of a newspaper when Friedan's father fell ill. Her mother's new life outside the home seemed much more gratifying.

(MY COMMENT: It sounds like the father had his own store but was this gratifying having to run a store. I don't know. It was hard work having to deal with some easy customers and some hard ones. I guess a newspaper you could right what you want although at some point if you are so much pushing your own agenda it may hurt sales of the newspaper.)

As a young girl, Friedan was active in Marxist and Jewish circles; she later wrote how she felt isolated from the community at times, and felt her "passion against injustice...originated from my feelings of the injustice of anti-Semitism".[5] She attended Peoria High Schoolwhere she became involved in the school newspaper. When she was turned down for a column, she and six other friends launched a literary magazine called Tide. In this magazine, Friedan and her friends talked about home life as opposed to school life.

(MY COMMENT: As someone Jewish it is something that makes Jewish people look bad that she was involved both in Jewish and "Marxist" causes. Karl Marx lead to the death of millions of people and caused massive starvation in the USSR by their policies which really was an excuse for the government to control another man's property. Marxism is against Judaism as clearly Judaism did give each Jewish man land from their tribe except for the tribe of Levi land that they owned. Yes some of the produce had to be give to the Cohen and for the poor but it was owned by the government of by some male religious leader)

She attended the all-female Smith College in 1938. She won a scholarship prize in her first year for outstanding academic performance. In her second year, she became interested in poetry, and had many poems published in campus publications. In 1941, she became editor-in-chief of the college newspaper. The editorials became more political under her leadership, taking a strong anti-war stance and occasionally causing controversy.[5] She graduated summa cum laude in 1942, majoring in psychology.

(MY COMMENT: Ironic she went to an all female college Psychology?? I don't know what to say about men that think they know human nature better then God or that  a man being in Psychology is a more "liberated" man. It is true a lot of these men seem to have come for well to do backgrounds to spend all this time in this.Freud, another Jew that makes Jewish people look bad had some really sick idea's and he felt that through his Psychoanalysis that the bible was MADE UP and they killed Moses and felt bad about it so they made the bible because they felt guilty. What an ego-manaic.)

In 1943, she spent a year at the University of California, Berkeley having won a fellowship to undertake graduate work in psychology with Erik Erikson[6] . She became more politically active, continuing to mix with Marxists (many of her friends were investigated by the FBI[5]). Friedan claims in her memoirs that her boyfriend at the time pressured her into turning down a Ph.D fellowship for further study and abandoning her academic career.

(MY COMMENT: Betty Friedan paints herself as some normal suburban woman. That simply was a lie on her part as she was also friends with very radical people who were not typical at all. David Horowitz discusses this. And she never spent a day as a housewife as she spent her life working so she had no idea of what women who stayed at home part time or full time felt about this. Her hatred of women being at home to any degree was based on Marxism hating the middle class  and Karl Marx hating women that were married to another man as he was jealous. He wanted women to work for him and it is actually the men in this movement who the women supported who actually does cause women to hate men although the women in this movement like Betty Friedan are part of the problem in supporting such evil men who are jealous of another man that has a wife.
